Porosity building

This architectural object adopts the tendency of flexibility erecting an hybrid building on a living and commercial zone. The client seeks for a single building having an open room on the ground floor and an apartment on the second floor.

Located on a corner parcel, the construction area is 119 square meters having a perimeter of 7 meters per 17 meters.

The open space idea came from having any commercial room to work in and it will start as a Gym due to the client goals. This floor has two entries on the west facade, one to the Gym and another one to the staircase which conduces to the apartment. The program for the apartment is made of an open social area (kitchen, living and dining) and the private area (master bedroom and two other single rooms) besides the storage and services. The inhabitants are a family of three and it is important to provide an extra room for guests or a new inhabitant.

Order and function make up elevations. The main facade is located on the west side and its porosity is conceived as a modular grid with different protection strategies. There are long and narrow windows at the ground floor with steel protection due to the insecurity in the surrounding area. The second floor is more dynamic having some clear void windows, a frame to one of the rooms and aluminium louvers for the social area.
